Hike and Mountain Bike

This entry level trail and bicycle path follows the Firehole River to the geyser. This hike is 4.8 miles round trip. Lone Star erupts 30–45 feet about every three hours. Biking is not permitted beyond a barrier near the geyser.

If you witness an eruption, please note the time and report it at the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center to help them with their research.

Never modify trail features. Ride trails when they're dry enough that you won't leave ruts. Speak up when you see others on the trail and always yield to hikers, horses, and others coming uphill. Always ride on the established trail.
