Cave

The Big Ice Cave can be viewed by taking a short walk down an improved plank trail to the entrance portal. On a wooden platform inside the cave visitors can see the always present ice floor of the cave. There are no guided tours or speleothems. Take a sweatshirt or jacket, it may be cold inside. Bring a flashlight as there are no lights inside.

From Bridger, Montana

  1. Head west on E Broadway Ave toward S Main St (85 ft)
  2. Turn left at the 1st cross street onto US-310 E/S Main St
    Continue to follow US-310 E
    (2.8 mi)
  3. Turn left onto Pryor Mountain Rd (1.4 mi)
  4. Slight right to stay on Pryor Mountain Rd (0.4 mi)
  5. Turn left at the 1st cross street to stay on Pryor Mountain Rd (10.4 mi)
  6. Turn left to stay on Pryor Mountain Rd (1.9 mi)
  7. Continue onto Pryor Mtn Rd (3.2 mi)
  8. Continue onto Sage Creek Rd (4.7 mi)
  9. Continue onto Forest Rte 73 (3.9 mi)
  10. Forest Rte 73 turns slightly right and becomes Pryor Mountain Rd (8.4 mi)

From Bridger, MT go south 3 miles on US 310. Turn left on Pryor Mountain Road and travel 22 miles southeast to Forest Boundary. Continue approximately 12 miles on Pryor Mountain Road (Forest Road 2308) to picnic area on right. High clearance vehicles recommended. Road conditions deteriorate rapidly in inclement weather.
