The Ray Gerber Memorial Skatepark is the community skatepark of Cave Junction, Oregon, a small town in the scenic Illinois Valley of the state's southwest corner, near the Oregon Caves. Set in the town's big city park just off Highway 199, it's a friendly local spot with easy access and plenty of other park amenities close by.
The park offers a mix of transition and street features to session, and it was refreshed in a 2009 redevelopment that rebuilt the older wooden frames and added new quarterpipes while keeping some of the original metal ramps. It makes a fun, low-key place to skate for locals and for travelers passing through on the way to the Oregon Caves or the redwoods just over the California line. The park allows open access for bikes and scooters as well as skateboards.
Because it's tucked into the town's main park, you'll find baseball fields, restrooms, and picnic areas right alongside, making it easy to spend an afternoon. It's free and open from dawn to dusk. As always, gear up with a helmet and pads (especially younger skaters), be courteous and take turns, bring water, and check for any posted rules. For a relaxed session in a beautiful corner of Oregon, the Ray Gerber Skatepark is a welcoming stop.
