Ocean Bowl Skate Park in Ocean City, Maryland, holds a special place in skateboarding history as the oldest continuously operating municipal skatepark in the United States. After skating was banned on Ocean City's streets in the mid-1970s, local skaters and parents lobbied the town for a place of their own, and in June 1976 the original park opened with a humble four-foot-deep asphalt bowl. It proved so popular it kept growing — an 11-foot metal half-pipe arrived in 1985 during the vert boom, a full redesign debuted in 1998, and the park was expanded again in 2024.

Today Ocean Bowl is a roughly 11,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility featuring one large bowl with both deep and shallow ends, a smaller bowl, two ramps, and a concrete street course — terrain to satisfy bowl carvers and street skaters of every level. A newer support building adds shaded observation decks, a skate lounge, and public restrooms, making it a comfortable place to spend the day just steps from the beach.
