Getting there is a true backcountry expedition. The final 10-plus miles are rough dirt road where a high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended, and the route can become impassable when wet, so avoid it in rain or wet weather. There are no services for many miles — the nearest gas and groceries are in Adel, about 14 miles away — so come fully self-sufficient with plenty of water, food, and fuel.
