The 26-acre park is jointly owned by Spokane County and the City of Spokane. Spokane County Parks purchased the western 13 acres in 1986 with funds donated by the Spokane Mountaineers and other interested user groups.
Q'emilin Park trail system (Ka-Mee-Lin)

Located at the south end of the Spokane Street bridge, this 78.5- acre park features a guarded swimming beach, boat launch, BBQ pits, picnic shelters, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, concession stand, restrooms, and a 40-acre trail system.

The park features numerous trails, which pass three-story tall caves, beaches, scenic overlooks and side trails which go over the top of the hill. It is an excellent hike for bird watching. Birds commonly sighted on the lake are osprey, common merganser and pied-billed grebe in the summer and bald eagles, hooded mergansers and horned, eared and Western grebes in the winter.
