Disc Golf

Walden Park is a compact but well-loved nine-hole disc golf course tucked into the back of a multi-use community park in the Walden neighborhood of Walnut Creek, California, just off Oak Road near the Iron Horse Regional Trail. It was built in 2013 by the local Devil Mountain Disc Golf Club in partnership with the City of Walnut Creek, with the club funding the entire installation.

At about 2,345 feet across nine holes it is short, flat and quick, an easy hour and roughly three-quarters of a mile on foot, but the designers made it technical rather than long: mature trees, tight gaps and the shape of the park turn accuracy into the whole game, and it is known as a good place to practice controlled wooded lines. Concrete tee pads, clear signage and a genuinely beginner-friendly layout make it a favorite first course for new players while still leaving experienced locals plenty of ace runs.

Because it shares a neighborhood park, expect company: playgrounds, walking paths and picnic areas mean dog-walkers, families and strollers cross the fairways, so it pays to wait for a clear line before throwing. The course is free to play and open to the public, with restrooms, drinking water and easy parking on site. Its handy location and short round make it an easy after-work or lunch-break lap for the East Bay disc golf community.
