Bluff Hole
Mulberry, Arkansas
Swim
Bluff Hole is regularly named one of the best public swimming holes in Arkansas — a gorgeous stretch of the clear, spring-fed Mulberry River in the Ozarks, framed by towering natural rock bluffs. Managed by the City of Mulberry as Bluff Hole Park, it pairs wild Ozark scenery with just enough amenities to make an easy family day.
The Mulberry runs cool and crystal-clear with that crisp Ozark character, and the setting is stunning: rock bluffs draped in greenery that glows almost electric in spring and turns gold and crimson in fall. There's a satisfying mix of shallow water for little ones and deeper pools for a proper swim, and the rock formations along the bank make natural platforms for jumping.
Unlike many wild swimming holes, Bluff Hole Park has real conveniences — restrooms and picnic tables on site. Parking runs a modest $5 per vehicle; the swimming itself is free.
There are no lifeguards, so swim at your own judgment, and be aware that conditions change fast after heavy rain, when the river can run high and fast. Wear water shoes for the rocky bottom, check depth before you jump, watch kids near the current, and pack out your trash. Summer is prime for swimming; spring and fall are gorgeous for the scenery.
