This is about a 2 mile round trip hike to 25 foot waterfall which splits and has swimming hole at bottom of right hand channel. The hike is made difficult because of downed trees, slippery places, loose rocks and holes along the way. Landslides are common here. Access to Rattlesnake Gulf on one side is via property leased by Adams Eden Camp, which is a privately-owned camp but is open to the public. The other side of Rattlesnake Gulf is private property and is posted no trespassing - so please stay off. A small fee is charged by Adams Eden Camp for day use (pay $4.00 for day use and register when you enter) and camping and other lodging is available for a fee also. We received this email in 2012: "Regarding Rattlesnake Gulf, near LaFayette/ Tully in New York State...we just visited this place today (8/27/12) and what a change from when we last visited (5/1/12 or so)! In periods of low water/ drought, this creek is completely unswimmable, with water only about 3 feet deep in the creek's deepest parts. Also it appears landslides have changed the course of the creek as well as water quality; the water is very murky and mosquito-infested!" Seems like a seasonal place.Courtesy of swimmingholes.org
