At the mouth of the San Diego River in the laid-back beach town of Ocean Beach, Robb Field Skatepark is one of Southern California's biggest and best-loved public skateparks — roughly 40,000 square feet of all-concrete terrain, and completely free to skate.
The park is smartly split into two worlds. One side is a big street plaza ringed with banks and transitions, studded with ledges, rails, hubbas, an octagon volcano, and a signature spine. The other is a pair of multi-section mini bowls linked by a spine, flowing into more transition and a mini ramp. That spread means street technicians and bowl carvers alike get a full session, and there's room for all levels to spread out.
Run by the City of San Diego, it's open daily from 10 a.m. to dusk, year-round. It sits within the larger Robb Field and Ocean Beach recreation complex, so there's parking, sports fields, and the beach and dog park all close by — an easy add-on to an OB day.
Helmets and pads are the rule at San Diego skateparks, so gear up. With coastal weather this good, it stays busy — be ready to share the park and wait your turn on the popular features.
