Washing Machine, or Varnooy Kill Falls, received its nickname from the shape of the falls. This short wide falls feeding the round wide pool looks like a washing machine during the filling portion of the cycle. The wide deep pool surrounded by forest makes the Washing Machine a perfect swimming hole. The stunning views and beautiful rocks make this a wonderful place to visit and walk around even on days where it is too cold to swim.
The Washing Machine swimming hole is reached by taking 209 to Lundy Road. After turning on Lundy Road the road will become a dirt road and the swimming area can be found on the left, a little pull out area allows for parking for a few vehicles. There is a short walking path to the Vernooy Kill Falls, the water is visible from the path.
Though this swimming hole is remote a few swimmers can usually be found here. Swimmers should exercise caution, and should keep their distant from the falls itself.
