Mountain Bike
There is an upper and lower Chimney Rock Trail. Tie them both together and you have a short and painless 3.16 mile figure eight loop. The Upper Chimney Rock Trail is 1.79 miles around the loop, and the lower Chimney Rock Trail (loop) is 1.39 miles. The map indicates that the upper loop crosses wilderness, which, of course, means you can’t bike it. There are no visible signs alerting you to this fact along the trail, however. Recommendation: Leave your bike at the Trailhead and make this into a nice hike. That way you don’t have to wonder about the wilderness area question, and you can take either of two side spurs that lead you to nice overlooks at the top of two different hills.
