Glenhaven Skatepark is one of Portland, Oregon's premier public skateparks, a big, varied concrete park in the Glenhaven Park in northeast Portland. Designed and built by the legendary Dreamland Skateparks and opened in 2007, its roughly 11,000 square feet of terrain make it a favorite of skateboarders and BMX riders alike, with plenty of room for everyone.
The park is thoughtfully split into two halves: about 5,500 square feet of street course and another 5,500 square feet of transition terrain. The transition side stars a nine-foot-deep “peanut” bowl with a four-foot shallow end and stairs, plus a separate rectangular bowl, and the flowing bowls are hugely popular with the local BMX community as well as skaters. The street course delivers quarterpipes, hubba and flat ledges, handrails, a flat bar, stairs, a vert wall, a manual pad, and a really cool long brick bank.
With so much wide-open, well-designed terrain, Glenhaven welcomes beginners and experts alike and easily handles a crowd. It's free and open to the public. As always, gear up with a helmet and pads (especially younger skaters), be courteous and take turns, bring water, and check for any posted hours. For its size, variety, and quality Dreamland build, Glenhaven is a must-skate on any Portland tour.
