The Ogden Kayak Park is a fun urban whitewater playground on the Weber River, right in the heart of Ogden, Utah, with the Wasatch Mountains rising as a backdrop. A purpose-built river park with engineered rapids and play features, it's a beloved “park-and-play” spot for kayakers, river surfers, and tubers looking to catch some waves without leaving the city.

Originally built in 2000 as Utah's first professionally designed kayak play park, it was completely renovated in 2021 and now boasts three whitewater play-features, a gentler fish-passage and lower-flow channel, accessible ramps to the water, and picnic tables and grills along the bank — all connected to the scenic Ogden River Parkway trail. It's a great place for paddlers to practice surfing, spinning, and other freestyle moves close to home.

The park runs well across a wide range of river flows (roughly 150 to 1,000 cfs), so there's good action much of the season. On hot summer days the calmer stretches also draw tubers floating the Weber. Beginners and onlookers can enjoy watching from the bank, while experienced paddlers session the features.

As with any whitewater, come prepared and play it smart: wear a properly fitted life jacket and helmet, know the current flow before you get on the water, never paddle alone, and be aware that river features and hazards change with the flow. Late spring and early summer bring the biggest water; midsummer is mellower and warmer. Bring your gear, check the river level, and enjoy one of Utah's best urban river spots, right in downtown Ogden.
