Camp, Hike, and Swim
Old Forge Campground and Recreation Area is a small campsite perfect for campers looking for a primitive experience. Old Forge is located on the beautiful Jennings Creek in the Cherokee National Forrest.
Camping is first come first serve with ten walk-in campsites. Each campsite allows two vehicles and five campers. Each campsite has a fire pit/grill available for campers to use. Vault toilets are also available. The campsite has no potable water so campers should bring their own water sources. Campers must keep food in locked vehicles or bear safe containers when not preparing or eating food. Campsite fees are $7 a night.
Old Forge Recreation Area is a great starting point for hikers, horseback riders and swimmers. There are several trails available for hiking. The trail that follows Jennings Creek is particularly beautiful, with a couple small waterfalls and small swimming holes available. Swimmers should be cautious entering the water, checking for safety of water levels and current.
