The Waynesville Disc Golf Course is a free, public course tucked around the Waynesville Recreation Center in the mountains of western North Carolina, and it comes with a genuine wow factor: sweeping views of the Southern Appalachians as you play. It's a local favorite that mixes scenery with a solid, playable layout.
The course rewards a range of skills, with long, open shots that let big arms open up alongside tighter lines and plenty of ace runs when you're feeling confident. It's a fun, approachable round for beginners and a satisfying one for seasoned players chasing birdies against a mountain backdrop.
You'll find course maps at the Recreation Center and at a kiosk on site, so it's easy to navigate even on a first visit. Best of all, it's public with no fee — just show up with your discs and play.
Bring water and layers for the mountain weather, and pair a round with a visit to downtown Waynesville or the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway for a full day in the Smokies' backyard.
