The Ken Patrick Trail is a quiet, forested rim trail on the Grand Canyon's cooler North Rim, running roughly 10 miles between Point Imperial, the highest viewpoint on either rim at nearly 8,800 feet, and the North Kaibab Trailhead near the North Rim developed area. It is named in memory of Kenneth Patrick, a National Park Service ranger, and it offers a peaceful walk through the high country rather than a plunge into the canyon.

The trail alternates between spectacular open overlooks along the rim, with big views east toward Mount Hayden, the Marble Platform and the distant Vermilion Cliffs, and long, shady stretches through ponderosa pine, fir and aspen forest on the Kaibab Plateau, where wildlife such as mule deer, wild turkeys and the endemic Kaibab squirrel is common. Many hikers walk it in sections, using the Point Imperial and Cape Royal roads for access, and it connects into the North Rim's wider network of trails.

This is high, cool country, generally open and snow-free from roughly May through November, when the North Rim itself is open. Note that the July 2025 Dragon Bravo wildfire burned across parts of the North Rim, destroying the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and forcing extended closures, so anyone planning a visit should check the current status of North Rim roads, facilities and this trail with the National Park Service before going.
