Backpack and Hike
This is a half-day out-and-back hike traverses below the rim on the North Rim’s only maintained Inner Canyon trail. The North Kaibab Trail is the North Rim’s only maintained trail, lying within the frequently patrolled trans-canyon Corridor Zone of the park. Unlike many of the Grand Canyon’s trails, which follow the path of least resistance in search of breaks in the cliff bands, this straightforward trail forges its way through obstructions. More hikers pound this trail than any other on the North Rim, for ample reasons. The tread is wide and only occasionally rocky, and it descends moderately rather than steeply. The way offers a classic sampling of all the life zones present in the Grand Canyon, and the landscapes it traverses and views it affords are dramatic. Courtesy of trails.com
