Mountain Bike

Grafton Mesa located just outside of Springdale, Utah and Zion National Park is one of the more difficult and jarring trails in southern Utah. This trail is recommended for experienced mountain bikers only because of its sharp twists and turns, steep hills, and sharp rocks. The trail is relatively short at only about 4.6 miles but will surely get your adrenaline pumping as you ride through the red rock with the red peaks of Zion National Park in the distance.

It is recommended that riders bike Grafton Mesa from the top the of the trail by taking the Springdale/ZNP shuttle to the trailhead and biking down. As a caution, do not bike up from the bottom of the trail. It could be hazardous to both you and other riders as the trail is narrow and there is not enough room for bikers going in both directions.

Grafton Mesa is a out and back style trail that also includes the shuttle service to take you to the trailhead and back. This trail is also known by local daredevils who frequent the trail to do jumps and tricks from the steep hills. If you are a person who wants to keep your brain inside your skull, there are options to ride around the jumps are available. The best times to ride this trail are from March to September because these times are the most dry in southern Utah. Be sure to avoid this trail when it is raining or if it has recently rained because the rain will make the rock trail slippery and could cause injury or harm.

If you consider yourself an adrenaline junkie or daredevil this trail could be for you. Grafton Mesa can bring a sense of adventure you were not expecting so close to Zion National Park. Ride if you dare!

Never modify trail features. Ride trails when they're dry enough that you won't leave ruts. Speak up when you see others on the trail and always yield to hikers, horses, and others coming uphill. Always ride on the established trail.
