Canoe, Kayak, Skateboard, and Swim
Salem Pond is a favorite place of many of the community members in and around Salem, Utah. Here at the pond, you can swim, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard on the deep water. Attached to the beautiful pond is Knoll Park. It includes a playground, picnic tables, and a cement trail around the pond. The cement trail circles the entire park and grass area, and is great for walking your dog, or biking, skateboarding, longboarding, and rollerblading on. However motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trail. The pond is a popular place to fish, with a variety of spots to do so, but the favorite fishing spot can be found at the end of the trail. Resting right by the boat launch, a small wooden dock makes the perfect spot to catch the variety of fish living in the pond water.
Those who visit the pond are not the only ones who enjoy the water. You will find many friendly ducks swimming, even following you from the water as you walk the trail. During all times of the year you will find teenagers, engaged couples, or families taking pictures on the bridge over the water towards the center of the pond. If pictures aren’t being taken, you’ll find others jumping from the bridge into the refreshing water in the summer, or looking at all the lights in the winter. Various events, parades, and even races are held at the pond from May-August. As November approaches, the entire pond is lit up with Christmas lights. Information about upcoming events held at the pond can be found on Salem Cities webpage (http://www.salemcity.org/salem-pond.htm). Beyond the bridge, in the opposite direction of the park, the popular attraction "The Love Locks" can be found-two large hearts welded together with many people's locks hung on it. Many couples have become engaged at this location, and all are welcome to explore the engraved, or drawn on locks. Two picnic tables are located at these Locks along with a fireplace available for use and reservation.
Restrooms are available, and the park is open 24 hours a day! To reserve any part of the pond you can call Salem City at (801) 423-2770.
