Hike and Swim
Skinny Dip Falls is a beautiful and family friendly waterfall. Despite the misleading name, bathing suits are not optional at Skinny Dip Falls. Skinny Dip Falls is a long, thin cascading waterfall that pools in multiple areas. These pools are cool and clear, proving great wading and swimming locations for visitors. There is a spot with deeper water (about 6 feet) and a low rock formation for jumping off (the water is not deep enough for diving). This destination is popular but with plenty of areas to explore and spread out doesn't feel over crowded. Swimmers should exercise caution while swimming as the water can be fast moving and the rocks slippery.
The parking lot for Skinny Dip Falls is just off of Blue Ridge Parkway and the hike is a fairly easy 3/4 mile walk from the parking lot. The area is heavily forested providing shade for the entire hike, as well as some easy climbing rocks.
