Hike
Grebe Lake Trail is an alternative route to Howard Eaton Trail for visiting Grebe Lake. This trail is a converted old fire road that forms a more direct route to the lake.
The hike on Grebe Lake Trail is a just over six miles out and back hike. Most hikers complete the hike in three to four hours. Grebe Lake Trail is an easy trail with very little change in elevation. Because the trail is an old fire road, it is well packed and easy to follow.
The wildlife and scenery around the trail are diverse and beautiful. Hikers often see elk, as well as a variety of birds and other wildlife while hiking on Grebe Lake Trail. The trail goes through forested areas, as well as meadows with wildflowers. The forests around the trail have been burned by forest fires in some places, giving the area a beautiful combination of new life and fallen trees.
The trail is closed during winter and spring months due to high amounts of snow. Grebe Lake Trail is a quiet, beautiful place to connect with nature during the summer months.
Fishing on Grebe Lake is allowed. Fishers must follow the Yellowstone National Park fishing rules and guidelines.
Hiking Grebe Lake Trail is a quiet, scenic way to connect with nature in Yellowstone National Park. This easy hike is a wonderful detour to take from the more popular Yellowstone sights.
