Mountain Bike

A route for the thrill seeker, the Bear Canyon Loop is an advanced mountain biking route. This a challenging route and should be done only by those who know how to handle their bike on steep rocky terrain. There are parts of the route that will go over loose rocks and other parts where large embedded rocks come onto the trail (making it a bit dangerous if going through there at too fast of a speed).

The trail crosses through multiple trails and loops around the Wasatch Mountains. There are a few campgrounds along the way if bikers want to take a quick break and get some water. Most of the trail is through forested area, and will be shaded for the majority of the ride. There are two routes, the short route (about 8.4 miles) and the long route (by including the Ridge Trail and the Timpanogos Perimeter trail). The routes includes about 1700 ft of elevation gain, but this makes the views that much more impressive. Much of the route is singletrack, with some switchbacks and sharp turns.

When riding, there is an option to take a shuttle back up if bikers only want to do the downhill portion of the route. If bikers take this option, they might want to consider adding on additional trails to the Bear Canyon Loop so they can get a good, thorough ride.

Never modify trail features. Ride trails when they're dry enough that you won't leave ruts. Speak up when you see others on the trail and always yield to hikers, horses, and others coming uphill. Always ride on the established trail.
