Premonition is located in a buttress on the north rim of Deep Creek Canyon, 1 mile NNW of the Deep Creek Overlook on the south rim. Once inside, there is everything from walking passages, to squirmways, to chimneys galore. With 1.19 miles of passage, the decorations make it worth the trip.

Directions

From Gypsum, Colorado

  1. Head north on US-6 W toward Trail Gulch Rd (0.3 mi)
  2. At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto Trail Gulch Rd (0.2 mi)
  3. Turn left to merge onto I-70 W (5.3 mi)
  4. Take exit 133 toward Dotsero (0.2 mi)
  5. Turn right onto US-6 W (0.7 mi)
  6. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto 301/Colorado River Rd (1.7 mi)
  7. Turn left onto Coffee Pot Rd/Deep Creek Rd
    Continue to follow Coffee Pot Rd
    Parts of this road may be closed at certain times or days

  8. Turn right onto Forest Rd 6003A (0.4 mi)

 The Google directions cross private property and the owner does not want travel in these roads.From the overlook turnoff, continue west, then northwest about 13 miles to Deep Lake. From the north side of Deep Lake, follow the Ute Trail (Forest road 618) east as it parallels the north rim of Deep Creek Canyon twelve and a half miles. From the parking marker, hike south 500 feet, then head southwest another 1000 feet to the cave.
